Kerala....
the land of beauty! She is popular for her
cultural heritage, refined over decades and decades by various
luminaries. Her heritage dates back to Parasurama, the
incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu, it is believed that Kerala
which is a costal state in the south most part of Indian
peninsular, gifted with the natural boundaries, is the creation of Parasurama. The State of Kerala is unique for her marvellous
beaches, backwaters, streams, rivers, water-falls, and greenish
hill tops. Several places of worship in the form of temples,
mosques and churches in the State of Kerala attributes to
religious amity and secularism prevailing in the State.
As the
name suggests, it is the land of Kera (Cocunut) trees. In
Sanskrit language, the word 'keralam' means the 'added on land'
which is derived from the mythology related to Parasurama.

The significance of the State of
Kerala in the old tourist map is essentially due to the gift of
nature which makes her popularly known as "God's Own
Country". Apart from the natural beauty of hill tops, water-falls, streams,
rivers and inland waters and beaches, Kerala is also rich with
her Cultural heritage.
She is popular for her aromatic
spices, which attracted the Portugals, the Dutches, the
Englishmen towards her, which in turn added to her cultural and
social heritage.
Whatever
be the myths, whatever be the history, she always keeps a high
profile, when you think about India!... when you think about
beauty !!
